Nautilus stores your dive logs, photos, buddies, and settings on your device. When you create an account, your data is also encrypted and backed up to our server so you can restore it on another device. We do not sell your data, we do not collect analytics, and we do not share personal information with third parties except as described below.
You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email. We store your email address, display name, and a session token on our server. Passwords (email sign-in only) are hashed with scrypt and never stored in plain text.
Depth profiles, gas mix details, dive computer serial numbers, and app preferences are stored locally and included only in the encrypted backup.
When you view a map, tile data is fetched from Mapbox. This means Mapbox receives your device's IP address and the geographic area you're viewing. No dive data, personal information, or location history is shared with Mapbox. See mapbox.com/legal/privacy for their full policy.
When you open the Weather screen, the app fetches marine and atmospheric forecasts from Open-Meteo. The only data sent is the GPS coordinates of the location you selected. No personal information, dive data, or device identifiers are shared. See open-meteo.com/en/terms for their full policy.
Each permission is requested only when needed. Denying any of them won't break the app — it just disables the related feature.
You can delete your account from Settings. This permanently removes all your data from our server — including your backup, profile, photos, friends, and submitted dive spots. Local data on your device is also cleared. This action cannot be undone.
You can delete individual dives, clear all local data from Settings, export your data, or delete your account entirely. We believe your data belongs to you.
If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with the app update. The "last updated" date above will reflect when it was last modified.
